Vivarta – by Aartyz

When a Saree Becomes a Story Again

Some sarees are more than fabric.

They carry memories of weddings, celebrations, festivals, family traditions and moments we never want to forget. A grandmother’s silk saree. A mother’s favourite cotton drape. The saree you wore on a special occasion and carefully folded away, knowing you could never part with it.

But over time, many of these beautiful sarees remain untouched in cupboards and trunks.

At ARTYZ, we believe they deserve another life.

Vivarta — The Art of Transformation

Vivarta means transformation.

It is our way of giving treasured sarees a new purpose while preserving the memories woven into them.

Instead of allowing a beautiful saree to remain forgotten, we transform it into something you can use, wear and cherish all over again.

The original fabric becomes the starting point for a new story.

From Your Wardrobe to Your Home

An old silk saree can become an elegant cushion cover, table runner, curtain or quilt.

A treasured cotton saree can be transformed into contemporary home décor, bags or everyday clothing.

A beautiful chiffon or georgette can find a new expression as a statement accessory or a decorative accent.

And sometimes, the most meaningful transformation is simply turning your favourite saree into something you can wear again.

At ARTYZ, we work with the character of the original fabric rather than trying to erase it. Its texture, borders, colours and details become part of the design.

Your Saree. Your Story. Your Design.

Every saree is different.

That is why Vivarta is not about mass-produced products or predetermined designs.

You may want to preserve the iconic border of your mother’s saree in a handbag.

You may want the pallu to become the highlight of a jacket.

You may want to turn several treasured sarees into a quilt that brings together memories from different chapters of your life.

Or perhaps you have an idea of your own.

Tell us what you imagine, and we will explore how your saree can be transformed into it.

What Can Your Old Saree Become?

Depending on the fabric, condition and design of your saree, it can be transformed into:

  • Elegant handbags and sling bags, Silk potlis,
  • Jackets and blazers, Kurtis and dresses, One-piece outfits
  • Cushion covers, Table runners, Curtains and drapes, Quilts, Home décor accents
  • Gifting pieces
  • Other bespoke creations

The possibilities are limited only by the fabric—and your imagination.

Preserving More Than Fabric

Upcycling is not simply about reducing waste.

It is also about recognising value.

A saree that has already travelled through one chapter of your life does not have to become obsolete when you stop wearing it. By transforming it, we extend the life of the textile and preserve the emotional connection attached to it.

This philosophy sits naturally within ARTYZ’s larger approach to responsible craftsmanship.

We work with traditional textile techniques and consciously explore ways of creating products that are thoughtful, distinctive and made to be cherished. Our broader sustainability journey also includes working with natural materials and exploring floral waste for natural dyes and eco-printing.

A New Life, Without Losing the Old One

The beauty of Vivarta lies in the balance between preservation and transformation.

We don’t want your saree to become unrecognisable.

We want its most beautiful elements—the border, motifs, colours, texture or memories—to find their place in something new.

Imagine opening your wardrobe and seeing your mother’s saree transformed into a jacket.

Imagine sitting at your dining table with a runner made from a saree that belonged to your grandmother.

Imagine carrying a handbag made from a fabric that once accompanied you on an unforgettable occasion.

The textile changes. The story remains.

How Vivarta Works

1. Share your saree with us
Send us photographs or bring your saree to ARTYZ so we can understand its fabric, condition, colours and design.

2. Tell us your idea
Would you like clothing, home décor, a bag or something completely different? Share your vision with us.

3. We study the saree
Our team considers the fabric, weave, borders, motifs and usable portions before suggesting the best possibilities.

4. We create the transformation
The saree is carefully cut, designed and crafted into its new form while retaining the character of the original textile wherever possible.

5. Your memory comes home
What once lay forgotten in your cupboard returns as something beautiful, useful and meaningful.

Because Some Things Are Too Precious to Throw Away

Fast fashion encourages us to replace.

Vivarta encourages us to remember.

A saree does not have to end its journey when you stop wearing it. Sometimes, it simply needs a new form.

At ARTYZ, we believe that the most sustainable textile can sometimes be the one you already own.

Don’t discard the saree that carries your memories. Transform it.

Give Your Saree a New Story

Have a treasured saree tucked away in your cupboard?

Bring it to ARTYZ and let us explore its possibilities.

From a saree to a statement jacket, from a pallu to a handbag, from memories to something you can use every day—let’s create its next chapter together.

From Floral Waste to Wearable Art

The Art of Eco Printing & Natural Dyeing at ARTYZ

What if flowers that have completed their journey could begin another one?

Every day, enormous quantities of flowers offered at temples, celebrations and religious ceremonies are discarded. At ARTYZ, we believe these flowers still have something to give.

Their colours, pigments and natural beauty can become part of something new—a piece of textile, a garment, a scarf or a work of wearable art.

This is the inspiration behind ARTYZ Eco Printing.

Where Nature Becomes the Artist

Eco printing is a beautiful meeting point between nature, textiles and craftsmanship.

Instead of relying entirely on synthetic colours or mechanically produced patterns, we work with natural elements such as flowers, leaves, petals and plant matter to create impressions directly on fabric.

The result is not a perfectly repeated pattern.

It is something far more special.

A textile with its own identity.

Each flower, each leaf and each piece of fabric responds differently to the process. Variations in colour, shape, intensity and texture are part of the beauty.

Just like nature, no two eco-printed pieces are exactly alike.

From Temple Flowers to Textiles

At our ARTYZ workshop in Nagpur, floral waste is collected, carefully segregated and dried before being used for natural colour extraction and eco-printing.

Flowers that might otherwise have ended up as waste are given another purpose.

Their natural pigments and tannins can create subtle botanical impressions, earthy tones and organic patterns on fabric.

This is more than a printing technique for us.

It is a way of looking at waste differently.

What appears to be waste can sometimes be a resource waiting to be rediscovered.

The Eco Printing Process

The magic of eco printing lies in the interaction between the plant and the fabric.

Natural elements such as dried flowers and leaves are carefully arranged on prepared fabric. The textile is then rolled and steamed so that the natural pigments and tannins from the botanical material transfer onto the fabric.

The process requires patience.

The colours develop gradually. The botanical forms reveal themselves slowly. And when the fabric is finally opened, the result can be completely different from what was imagined.

That element of surprise is an essential part of eco printing.

Nature Creates the Pattern

One of the most beautiful things about eco printing is that it does not attempt to make nature uniform.

A leaf may leave a delicate silhouette.

A flower may create a soft burst of colour.

A stem may leave an unexpected line.

Sometimes the impressions are bold. Sometimes they are barely there.

These variations are not imperfections.

They are the signature of the process.

This is why an ARTYZ eco-printed garment is not simply a printed garment.

It is a one-of-a-kind interpretation of nature.

More Than Flowers

Our exploration of natural colour extends beyond floral waste.

Depending on the desired colour and textile, natural materials can include flower petals, leaves, fruit and vegetable peels, onion skins, pomegranate, turmeric, beetroot, red cabbage, tea, henna and indigo, among other botanical sources.

The kitchen, the garden and the landscape around us can all become sources of inspiration.

Nature offers an extraordinary palette—we simply have to learn how to see it.

Choosing the Right Fabric

For our eco-printing practice, we favour natural fibres such as cotton, khadi and linen, which complement the organic character of the process.

The choice of fabric matters.

Natural fibres allow us to create textiles that feel as beautiful as they look, while supporting our philosophy of creating thoughtful products with a longer, more meaningful life.

Every Piece Tells a Different Story

When you purchase an eco-printed ARTYZ piece, you are not buying a pattern that has been reproduced hundreds of times.

You are bringing home an individual interpretation of nature.

The placement of a flower.

The shape of a leaf.

The depth of a colour.

The subtle variations created during steaming.

All of these details make the finished textile unique.

No two pieces are ever exactly the same.

And that is precisely the point.

What Happens to the Leftovers?

Our sustainability philosophy does not stop once the main product is created.

Where possible, leftover fabric pieces are transformed into smaller, useful products such as bags, potlis, coin purses, aprons and other everyday textile products.

Natural botanical remnants from the process can also be directed towards further uses such as composting or other organic applications, depending on their condition.

The goal is simple:

Use more thoughtfully. Waste less. Create beautifully.

Sustainable Luxury, the ARTYZ Way

For ARTYZ, sustainability is not about sacrificing beauty.

It is about creating beauty with greater awareness.

It means respecting the materials we use.

It means valuing the hands that make our products.

It means finding new possibilities in materials that might otherwise be discarded.

And it means creating pieces that feel personal enough to be treasured rather than quickly replaced.

Our eco-printing journey brings together these ideas—craftsmanship, natural materials, Indian textile traditions and contemporary sustainable design.

From Floral Waste to Wearable Art

A flower offered in devotion.

A leaf gathered from nature.

A piece of natural fabric.

The hands of a craftsperson.

And time.

Together, they can become something extraordinary.

At ARTYZ, we call this “From Floral Waste to Wearable Art.”

Because sustainability doesn’t have to look ordinary.

It can be beautiful.

It can be luxurious.

It can be deeply personal.

And sometimes, it can begin with something as simple as a flower.
